ABOUT WINDROBO: Windrobo builds high‑rise‑inspection and maintenance robots that tame skyscraper facades and turbines in the world’s harshest urban‑wind environments. We combine cutting‑edge autonomy, aerodynamic design, and vertical photogrammetry to keep people safe and cities cleaner. THE ROLE: As the Lead Robotics Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading our robotics engineering efforts and driving innovation in robotic systems. You'll lead a team of talented engineers in designing, developing, and deploying advanced robotic solutions across various domains. Reporting to the CEO, you will own the engineering portfolio from concept research through manufacturing ramp and ensure cross‑functional alignment across Product, Operations, and Customer Success. If you're a seasoned robotics expert with leadership experience and a passion for innovation, we want you on our team. DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES: - Define the technical vision and architecture for simulation/implementation on Stretch - Understand the needs of developers to create tools and workflows for designing, executing, and evaluating simulation test and development. - Evaluate and enhance the fidelity of the prototype. - Participating as a hands-on developer, implementing key components, debugging issues, and prototyping new approaches - Mentor other engineers of the team DESIRED SKILLS: - Experience leading technical projects, either formally or informally. - Experience working with multiple teams and helping convert ambiguous requirements into concrete technical roadmaps and deliverables - Expert‑level ROS 2 node graph design, PX4 flight stack customization - Advanced CAD using SolidWorks/Siemens NX; wind‑tunnel correlation - Supply-chain risk analysis and alternative-vendor qualification for motors, ESCs, batteries, and structural components. - Materials & rapid/manufacturing processes (CFRP, SLA, SLS, CAM) - Hands‑on composite layup, CNC, and additive manufacturing - Embedded systems & real‑time firmware (C/C++, MCU & SBC) - Fluent in Python, C++, MATLAB; good grasp of GPU acceleration (CUDA/OpenCL) - Proven delivery of at least one autonomous UAV or mobile robot to market or mission. - Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) mitigation techniques: dynamic balancing, compliant mounts, and modal damping - Vertical/oblique photogrammetry, LiDAR & multi‑sensor calibration, Camera EDUCATION - B.S. or more in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics Engineering or related fields.
