Database Consultant, Professional Services A highly skilled commercial or open source database platform specialist is needed to engage with senior leadership and optimize IT platforms & infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience migrating applications from one database engine to another and solving complex, high-scale data challenges. You will collaborate with customers and partners on key engagements, developing and delivering proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and support implementation projects to migrate customer environments to AWS cloud-based database platforms. The databases team provides direct-to-customer consulting services remotely. Our consultants are builders who deliver projects, technical workshops, and lead implementation projects globally. These professional services focus on customer solutions such as web applications, enterprise applications, high-performance computing, batch processing, big data, archiving, disaster recovery, migration, security risk, and compliance. Key Responsibilities 1. Represent AWS well within the customer's environment, driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, standard methodologies, project management, and risk mitigation. 2. Work closely with AWS Platform Service Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure the success of project consulting engagements. 3. Devise and recommend solutions based on understood requirements with customers' technical resources. 4. Analyze on-premises database environments, such as Oracle, SQL Server, or other commercial DB engines, to Open Source Engines like Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL or RedShift, DynamoDB. 5. Migrate database environments to AWS, including Re-Host, Upgrade/Optimize for AWS, or Re-Factor to open source database platform on AWS. 6. Consult for optimal design of database environments, analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performance. Experience implementing AWS services in various distributed computing environments. 3. Strong knowledge and experience on at least one commercial relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, IBM2), or open source database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB). 4. Desire knowledge on non-relational databases, like MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. 5+ years of IT implementation experience. 2. Experience and technical expertise (design and implementation) in cloud computing technologies. 3. Experience leading the design, development, and deployment of business software at scale or recent hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience.
