Position Summary: The Structural Section Head is responsible for driving business development, ensuring the financial success of the department, and managing staff at the local level. This role requires a strong leader capable of coordinating strategic growth initiatives, managing financial resources, and serving as a technical resource for both project managers and technical staff. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Strategic Growth Coordination: - Collaborate with office managers and practice leaders to align on strategic growth plans. Market Presence & Business Development: - Establish and enhance the department's market presence through marketing efforts and business development initiatives. Financial Management: - Manage the department's budget and efficiently allocate resources. Proposal Production: - Lead and contribute to the creation of proposals to secure new business. Technical Expertise: - Serve as a technical resource for project managers and technical staff, providing guidance and support. Staffing and Human Resources: - Determine staffing needs, conduct interviews, and hire staff for the section. - Conduct performance reviews based on feedback from project managers. Leadership and Team Management: - Provide leadership and continuous performance management for team members, including setting goals, offering feedback, one-on-one meetings, and coaching to promote team development and growth. Required Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program. - Professional Engineer License. - 10+ years of experience in a specialized discipline. - Experience in project management and business development. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred Experience: - Experience working with local clients at the county and state level. - Supervisory experience. Working Conditions: Work will primarily be conducted within a general office environment. While the work is generally sedentary, occasional standing and walking may be required.
