Job Title: Senior Communications Assistant Grade: GS5 The Senior Communications Assistant is a key role in the UNHCR office, responsible for managing communication and public information tasks. This position requires a proactive and creative individual who can coordinate with other units and follow the guidance of senior management. Duties - Monitor media and local situation regarding UNHCR. - Organize press briefings and events such as workshops and conferences. - Produce information materials for public awareness campaigns and prepare in-house bulletins, newsletters, and information kits. - Liaise with printers concerning brochures and publications published by the office. - Draft routine correspondence and maintain information databases. - Compile and distribute a daily news clipping service. - Distribute press statements and similar information to media, other offices, and Headquarters. - Maintain an up-to-date filing system and appointments diary. Minimum Qualifications 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher. Required Languages(B2 level): Spanish, English. Operational Context This position is based in Colombia, which has been impacted by the outflow of over 7.7 million Venezuelan refugees. The ideal candidate will have experience managing communication tasks in a complex mixed migration context and be able to redact high-quality reports and fact sheets.
