Hiring Department International Programs Job Description MU International Programs seeks a student-centered, innovative, and collaborative leader to serve as Assistant Director of Study Abroad in the Mizzou Study Abroad team. Reporting to the Director of Study Abroad, the Assistant Director (AD) is a key member of the study abroad senior leadership team and will play an active role to implement our bold vision, "to ensure that by 2030 every student will have a global learning experience at Mizzou, both on campus (or domestically) and abroad." This student-facing role will contribute to strategic student support areas including: Student advising Faculty-led program coordination Exchange Program management This is an exciting time to join the Mizzou Study Abroad team. MU has successfully re-opened study abroad programs during COVID-19, and our team recently developed a new vision, mission, and values: Vision, mission and values // Study Abroad Duties Student Advising Ensure that our advising services are transformative to help students unleash their full potential as future global leaders. Work with assigned academic departments to identify and promote specific study abroad opportunities for students in these majors. Provide initial study abroad advising for students. Supervise and mentor the study abroad advisors to ensure outstanding student service. Coordinate advising processes for exchange, direct enroll, and affiliated programs for undergraduate and graduate students in assigned regions. Serve as primary liaison with MU overseas and U.S. colleagues regarding academic and administrative issues. Coordinate visa processing and represent MU to foreign embassies and visa agencies as needed. Work to convert student leads into committed students and accelerate decision timelines. Collaborate with Communications to track advising appointments and workloads, aiding data-driven decisions. Promote programs, coordinate admissions, develop budgets, and manage problems and situations as needed. Faculty-Led Programs Partner with faculty and departments to recruit students for faculty-led programs. Provide excellent support and business acumen to faculty and administrators. Work with faculty overseas and international partners to design, coordinate, and promote programs. Manage program budgets, contracts, and agreements. Exchange Programs Revamp exchange programs to increase student mobility and collaborations. Support the Study Abroad Exchange Advisor. Review exchange agreements with the Director. Other Responsibilities Support UM System South Africa activities. Oversee re-entry programming. Participate in on-call rotation for health, safety, or security incidents abroad. Manage post-study abroad evaluations. Perform other duties as assigned. Shift M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience, with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree. Four years advising/counseling students in an education abroad setting. International experience through study, work, or volunteering abroad. Second language skills. Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, organizational, and budgeting skills. Familiarity with TerraDotta software. Effective partnership-building with faculty and administrators. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
