Description Orbia Polymer Solution – Vestolit is the world’s largest manufacturer of specialty vinyl resins for formulating plastisols, organosols, powders, and compounds. Our solutions include a variety of dispersion, blending, powder coating and suspension vinyl resins. Vestolit offers its current and potential customers a broad product line that can be used to create a wide array of end-products including flooring, carpet tile, automotive sealants, can coating and medical products among others. With our experienced technical team, we provide vinyl-based solutions and consulting for current applications as well as for new product development, manufacturing improvement, and product performance enhancement. Vestolit seeks a Technical Service Specialist/ Engineer to be working out of in our Cartagena, CO manufacturing facility to provide technical support for Vestolit’s regional and global customers for the LATAM region, with special focus in the Brazil, Chile and Colombia regions. Principal Responsibilities: Closely monitor product evaluations at key accounts to maximize business potential. Identify technical benefits of existing and new developmental products in industry applications and promote their benefits directly with the customer, with the objective of maintaining existing business, generating new business, and maximizing profitability through an understanding of the product value. Build relationships with technical counterparts at target accounts with the objective of identifying opportunities that allow for increased participation in customer projects. Work closely with the global R&D, sales and marketing teams to enhance development and commercialization of new and existing products. Other KEY Duties: Serve as the direct technical contact for assigned customers. Gather information regarding customer requirements. Provide on-site technical expertise including product and processing recommendations and global customer support. Support the sales and marketing teams in the identification of market needs and product validation with target customers. Support customers in the evaluation of new products. Respond to customer complaints. Proactively work with customers to train them and optimize their processes. Support and participate in regional trade association activities. Work to develop competitive intelligence including competitive product analysis. Support the development of technical literature and tools. Qualifications and Expectations: Strong technical aptitude. Minimum Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or engineering related field. Minimum of 5 years of technical support and/or processing experience, with at least 3 yrs of work experience in the polymer industry. Direct experience in polymer processing is desirable, with processing experience in the PVC plastisol and/or organosol industry preferred. Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Excellent organization, problem solving and project management skills. Solid verbal and written communication internally in English and Spanish, Strong presentation and interpersonal abilities required. Must be customer focused, an effective team player, and able to operate with a sense of urgency where applicable. Experience in processing QC data to highlight product quality trends, disruptions, etc. would be a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
