Hiring Department The University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology. Job Description Specialize in charting physician-patient encounters in detail, with specific knowledge and use of medical and ophthalmic terminology. Obtain accurate and detailed patient history. Construct charts using the SOAP (subjective, objective, assessment/plan) method. Navigate Citrix Receiver and utilize PowerChart to communicate with patients and staff. Utilize PowerChart for ordering proposals for ancillary testing and fulfilling prescription refill requests for patients. Utilize Zeiss and Forum for ophthalmic imaging. Be compliant with infection control, basic sanitation/sterile protocol, and HIPAA. Perform basic patient care, including a full ophthalmic workup exam such as obtaining intraocular pressure, visual acuity, visual fields (confrontational and automated), etc. Utilize machinery for diagnostic testing (OCT, HVF, Goldman VF). Answer and transfer phone calls, handle faxing/copying, enter lab/diagnostic testing results, record bedside procedures, and assist with minor procedures within physician discretion. Input intraocular lens measurements for physician use in the OR (ORA). Shift Up to 20 hours between Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge or abilities can be acquired is necessary. Six (6) months experience as a Medical Scribe or related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
