Job Description We are seeking a skilled Data Center Operations Engineer to join our team at Blackfluo. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for providing technical support capacity to our data center facilities and infrastructure globally. Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in the day-to-day operations and activities of the Data center, focusing on physical installation, cabling, initial configuration of hardware, and other hosted components. - Support various activities following established support processes. - Document and inventory assets and materials. Data Center Support: - Support onsite data center and facilities, including cabling of data and power connections, and maintain Data Center ancillaries inside the rack (patching). - Perform physical installation and de-installation of equipment, management and maintenance of cabling plant, racks, PDUs; perform standard maintenance tasks and work instructions as per documented procedures. - Maintain data center environmental conditions, such as heating and cooling systems, to ensure they are operational and can meet equipment temperature conditions. Infrastructure Support: - Participate in the installation and configuration of infrastructure equipment, server hardware, and network using standard configurations and templates, as well as resolving infrastructure-related issues and requests. - Document and report infrastructure operations and maintain accurate system configuration, including asset management, tools, and physical inventory. - Maintain housekeeping and stock management of materials and supplies. - Keep up-to-date documentation and inventory of equipment, tools, asset management, and any other required documents. - Liaise with UNICC technical teams and external providers on various support activities, equipment deliveries, and inventory, receive and inspect with vendors as required, including escorting visits to the Data Center. - Other responsibilities may include providing support during weekends, holidays, or outside working hours, as well as serving as stand-by personnel on a rotation basis. Requirements: - Relevant IT work experience in supporting and/or operating enterprise data center environments and related services in a complex, heterogeneous environment. - Expertise in data center-related standards, i.e., ANSI/TIA/BICSI, and best practices, as well as environmental controls. - Demonstrated knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Operations and a strong understanding of underlying DC components, such as HVAC, racks, connectivity, power, and structured cabling systems. - Good working knowledge of Data Center hardware, i.e., servers and components, Network devices, appliances, backup hardware. - Good technical knowledge and understanding of industry cable test procedures and equipment for various different cabling systems, including Cat 5e/6 and OM3/4 OS2 fiber optic cabling systems. - Familiarity with configuring network equipment, such as Cisco switches, and other network devices, including knowledge of network protocols, e.g., TCP/IP, and virtualization technologies. - Experience in automation to streamline processes, such as API management, DCIM tools, and basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and scripting is an advantage. - Working knowledge of ISO2000 Service Management Standards and other service management standards and best practices. - Ability to read and understand blueprints and Data Center technical documentation. - Good knowledge of Data Center and network management tools. Education and Certifications: - Completion of a technical degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. - Relevant certifications related to the above-mentioned solutions and technologies are highly desirable, e.g., Data Center, Dell, HP, Cisco, ITIL, and ISO.
