Our goal, for each and every client we partner with, is to create high-value solutions through a collaborative and user-centered process. #LI-Remote About This Role As a Data Engineer at Very, you will work with our Software, Hardware, and Product Design teams to build full-service solutions for our clients. We focus on building end-to-end hardware and software solutions that meet our clients’ business needs, and reliable machine learning systems are often a part of our offering. An ideal candidate will display technical expertise in machine learning and data science, as well as strong communication skills, and the ability to present ideas and results to audiences ranging in technical depth. Candidates should also have experience translating business problems into analytical solutions, working in interdisciplinary teams, and building ML models for production systems. What You’ll Be Working On At Very, there is a never-ending supply of variety to the types of projects we work on. However, it is critical to note that almost all of these projects are production systems. As such, the only consistent research component of this position will revolve around establishing a pattern of delivery that allows the team to implement full-scale applications leveraging machine learning in a fast, predictable manner. Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Databricks Lakehouse - Understand our clients’ industries and work with the teams to deliver industry-relevant solutions - Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide scalable solutions - Optimize and troubleshoot Spark core, partitioning, and logs - Utilize pandas for data manipulation and analysis - Implement delta format for efficient data storage and processing - Implement Azure/AWS services for ingestion, storage, and visualization Required Qualifications Unfortunately, applicants who do not meet these criteria will NOT be considered. Experience: - 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles - Hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse on Azure or AWS - Proficiency in Python and SQL, with advanced skills preferred for a senior role - Experience with Spark core, partitioning, and logs troubleshooting - Familiarity with pandas for data manipulation - Experience with delta format for data storage and processing - Experience with Git, and ideally Azure DevOps, for version control - Strong understanding of data warehouse modeling, database design patterns, and table design patterns - Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and Azure Functions - Experience of AWS services such as IAM, EC2, S3, and Lambda is a plus - Experience with batch and stream ingestion processes is a plus - Experience designing and implementing automation tools and frameworks for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment is a plus - Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus Strong communication in English is required** Compensation $60 USD/hr **Note: This role is based in Colombia, you must have a valid work permit. Contract Your contract with Very will be as an independent contractor for an indefinite period. This type of contract carries some additional responsibilities for you: You'll have to save some money to take care of taxes, and you'll have to pay for public social security (Health and Pension) out of pocket.
