More About Your Responsibilities Senior engineers at Microsoft play an important role in driving the technical detailsfor projects for their product teams. Because of the interdependentand networked nature of M365, Senior engineers need to understandthe design, code, and features of related different areas, quicklycome up to speed and implement features that delight customers andpartners via their intuitiveness, attention to detail, andresponsiveness. They must be able to design and implement servicesthat are high scale, low latency, always on, low cost to maintainand operate. They work with principal engineers and architects tocome up with the right design for their components and helpinfluence the development of common patterns. They have goodpartnership and influence skills and are motivated and able tocollaborate with other engineers and teams. Responsibilities -Drive a project through to delivery removing obstacles as needed toensure success. - Contribute to the design of large-scaledistributed software services and solutions. - Write clean,well-tested code. - Champion and drive improvements to teamsoftware engineering practices. - Mentor junior engineers. -Collaborate with related teams to achieve goals. - Promoteknowledge sharing and contribute to onboarding documentation fornew engineers. - Act as a participant in the on-call rotation tomonitor service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions andperform complex incident management and problem resolution for theservice. Qualifications Essential qualifications - BS or MS degreein Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent years of workexperience. - At least 5 years of software design and developmentexperience with backend services. - At least 5 years of technicalengineering experience with coding in any Object-Oriented codinglanguage such as C++, C#, Java or Python or equivalent experiencewith C. - Global collaboration is integral to our work at Microsoft. Proficiency in English is essential for effectivecommunication in this role. Preferred Qualifications - Ability tocommunicate technical details clearly. - Experience in DevOps tomaintain live services and/or application frameworks. - Cloud andservices experience, with Azure cloud experience highly desirable. - Excellent analytical skills with systematic and structuredapproach to software design. - Passion for building reliable andwell-tested services. - Experience with or exposure to Agile anditerative development processes.
