***: The Senior Director, Programs (South America) provides leadership and leads the strategic planning, representation, fundraising and implementation of Rainforest Alliance’s Impact Programs work in South America to protect nature and improve the lives of farmers, workers and forest communities. The Senior Director builds and implements an integrated approach in the key landscapes in the region, involving all Rainforest Alliance´s programs and products. As such, the Senior Director is responsible for representing the Rainforest Alliance and building alliances with a wide range of stakeholders, including governments, bilateral and multilateral agencies, the private sector, multi-stakeholder organizations, industry associations, civil society organizations and regional bodies. The Senior Director is part of the Rainforest Alliance Leadership Team. This position supervises two country directors and several specialist staff providing programmatic services to the region. **RESPONSIBILITIES**: - The Rainforest Alliance’s Core Values are Impact, Change, Collaboration, Openness and Trust and as such they form the basis of the behaviours we demonstrate. - Take overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering the Thriving Landscapes Strategy in the Thriving Landscape(s) in the region - in alignment with the global approach - elevating and positioning the Rainforest Alliance as a global leader in this space and delivering on this important strategic program. - Develop the strategy for Impact Programs Portfolio in the region anticipating megatrends and complex challenges and opportunities. Ensure the strategy is successfully implemented and meets long-term business needs. Continue and scale up Landscapes & Communities work where strategically important and providing models for scale ensuring is successfully implemented and meets business needs. - Project Planning: Ensure the production and lead the approval of program and project plans to ensure integration of activities across the portfolio and the wider organization, compliance with the organization's project and program management framework, and compliance with the organization's wider governance structure and processes. Lead or supervise the design, preparation, and coordination of programs and projects in the region. - Project Framework Design: Ensure the use of project - and program-management frameworks and tools to ensure that they meet the needs of key internal and external stakeholders. Lead the incubation of innovative projects with companies. - Project Governance: Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined within the project-delivery and program-management office teams and ensure program and project compliance with the organization's wider governance structures and processes. Responsible for handling and executing grants within the portfolio. - Leadership and Direction: Communicate the region´s strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision, and values; clarify the actions needed to implement this strategy within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to the mission, vision, and values and do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals. Coordinate with other regions and functional departments in the organization to ensure efficient delivery of strategy. - Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and lead regional stakeholders up to and including top management level, finding out their needs, issues, and concerns and reacting to them by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions. Representing RA in external relations with stakeholders and coordinating fundraising efforts closely with the Development Portfolio. - Budgeting: Take responsibility for setting and handling area budgets so they align with organizational strategy. Support funding strategy to ensure financial sustainability of grants. - Performance Management: Manage and report on the performance of the department; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives. - Lead, support, motivate and inspire the South America Impact Programs team. **QUALIFICATIONS**: - Master’s degree in agriculture, environment, business administration, economy, or another relevant international development discipline. - At least 15 years of experience developing and executing department level strategy and budgets and leading senior staff in multiple countries. - Experience working with farmers (small, medium and large) and forest communities. - At least 10 years direct experience in preparing and implementing grants funded by bilateral and multilateral organizations and companies. - Demonstrated track record of effective partnerships at the regional level to build joint ini
