Purpose The Enterprise Architecture team is an exciting team with the mandate to design, develop, govern and drive the global technology strategy for the Bank. The Role This role will work closely with technology teams across the Bank and will have exposure to senior executives, business line leaders, and a diverse set of stakeholders to assess current capabilities, identify opportunities, and design future state operating models, capabilities, and implementation roadmaps. The Architect will assist in leading the execution of key technology initiatives to ensure that the strategy becomes a reality. Accountabilities Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Work with technology teams to understand current state gaps, future state capabilities needed, and the industry landscape. Lead the prioritization and development of implementation roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions align with the enterprise vision. Lead one or more large-scale technology initiatives from inception to execution working with technology teams across the Bank. Perform business analysis to develop viable business cases including initiative cost/benefit analysis, hardware/software costs, resource forecasting, financial analysis, and excel modeling. Support streams within a project or a project workstream, including leading problem-solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts. Manage stakeholders effectively. Work closely with technical teams and SMEs to ensure technology initiatives are delivered on time, within budget forecasts, and deliver the value identified at inception. Collaborate with non-technology teams including business lines, HR, Finance, and Risk to ensure technology initiatives meet business needs. Share knowledge and collaborate with others within the team and across the Bank to ensure effective delivery of projects. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles. Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. Education / Experience / Other Information Background in technology development or delivery is preferred (e.g., different programming languages, agile work, cloud computing, etc.) Experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or technology delivery/architecture is an asset. Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment. Superior interpersonal skills, leadership, and influential capabilities. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams. Knowledge of technology challenges relevant to the banking industry with an understanding of current banking business trends. Superior planning and analytical skills, with the ability to discern research information/data and focus on critical business issues. Excellent presentation and written communication skills. Undergraduate degree in business or engineering; graduate business degree/MBA is a strong asset. Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working Conditions Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are common.
