Database Administrator Position We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team and help us maintain the integrity and performance of our SQL Server databases. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support for multiple database platforms across different environments, including maintaining performance, incident investigation, configuration and administration, integrity and high-availability. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a global, cross-functional team. About the Role: 1. Maintain the integrity and performance of all database platforms across all environments through regular maintenance and monitoring. 2. Ensure Backup procedures are in place and available for Disaster Recovery procedures. 3. Maintain high-availability and disaster recovery (HADR) systems, including performing failover and failback. 4. Provide administration and support for Security, SQL Agent Jobs, SSIS Packages. 5. Offer consultancy and code reviews to other IT departments regarding Database design and performance, adhering to industry-standard best practices. 6. Support and deliver Database code deployments across all platforms and environments for other IT teams. 7. Ensure adherence to the Principle of Least Privilege for security and access permissions in all environments. 8. Provide ongoing performance tuning and optimization suggestions with relevant information to support them. 9. Govern and control Database Source Control policies and adherence. 10. Responsible for providing regular Database environment refreshes. 11. Participate in projects related to Database platforms, ranging from small to medium scale. 12. Create, maintain, and improve Database documentation and processes. 13. Provide occasional Database support outside normal working hours. About You: - Significant experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration in a production environment. - Knowledge of Microsoft Clustering and virtualization concepts. - Experience supporting AlwaysOn Availability Groups. - Strong understanding of T-SQL. - Experience with source control and versioning methodologies. - Ability to work independently and within a team. - Proficiency in PowerShell. - Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. - Strong motivation to learn, develop, and automate estate management. - Good analytical and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work in a global, cross-functional team environment. Additional Preferences (Optional): - Experience with other databases like MySQL, MariaDB, CosmosDB, Postgres. - Experience managing Power BI solutions on-premise. - Experience with RedGate tools. - Knowledge of ITIL and Agile practices. - Experience with cloud-hosted database platforms.
