**Responsibilities**: Employment Opportunity Director, Human Resources The Tla’amin Nation is a modern, forward thinking, self-governing nation located on the beautiful upper Sunshine Coast (qathet Region). Position Summary Reporting to the CAO, the Human Resources Director oversees the day to day management of Tla’amin Nation’s Human Resources program and department. The position provides overall support to employees and managers and ensures that our HR program is aligned with our organizational culture and overall strategic objectives. The HR Director is a member of the senior management team and plays a key role in the development and implementation of Tla’amin’s strategic plan. Key Responsibilities Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures as directed by the CAO. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to Citizens, employees, and general matters of the Nation. HR Program Management - Develops an HR plan in collaboration with the CAO and Senior Management Team that supports and connects to our overall strategic plan and Comprehensive Nation Plan (CNP). - Provides leadership, direction and support in the development, implementation and management of Tla’amin’s HR program including: recruiting, onboarding and orientation, employee relations, labour relations, retention & recognition, policy development, compensation & benefits, training & development, safety and wellness, and performance management. - Works collaboratively with the senior management team to support organizational growth and development through effective workforce planning and organizational development. - Oversees the recruiting and selection function in order to attract and hire talented employees. Develops a progressive and proactive recruiting strategy. - Oversees the onboarding and orientation process to ensure new employees are welcomed, learn about the Tla’amin Nation and culture, and are set up for success. - Acts as a resource and advisor to managers in all aspects of the employment relationship. Works with managers to ensure their teams have the tools, training and support to be successful in their roles and maximize team performance. - Develops, maintains and interprets human resource policies, procedures, and practices in alignment with organizational culture and applicable legislation. - Provides guidance in the interpretation of the BCGEU Collective Agreement for the Health Centre. Works with the CAO and managers to ensure a productive and positive working relationship with the union. Provides guidance on union matters including grievances and collective bargaining. - Develops, leverages and maximizes performance development tools to support individual, team and organizational performance. - Ensures effective training and professional development to support employee development and succession planning. - Maintains and administers Tla’amin’s compensation program and related market reviews. - Oversees the company group benefits and pension plans. Ensures a cost effective benefits plan that provides value to employees. - Oversees time recording and leave management processes for Tla’amin. Ensures the HRIS system is well maintained and that users are effectively trained. - Oversees the Occupational Health and Safety program. Collaborates with the Senior Management Team to ensure Tla’amin has a robust program to ensure employee safety and wellbeing. Department Management - Provides leadership to the HR department. - Communicates effectively and ensures clarity of roles and responsibilities. - Ensures staff have tools, training and resources to accomplish their work. - Ensures that policies and procedures are understood and followed by staff. - Ensures a respectful, healthy and safe work environment including safe work policies and procedures. - Responsible for hiring, orientation, supervision and training of direct reports. - Conducts regular performance planning and review with employees, providing constructive feedback and managing performance as required. Finance and Administration - Manages the financial affairs of the department and reports on financial performance. - Oversees the Bamboo HRIS system and ensures that the system is kept up to date and working effectively. - Oversees records management for the department and ensures that filing and records management systems are maintained as required by law or policy. - Maintains a current level of knowledge or related external regulations, laws, requirements and programs. Senior Management Team - Participates as a collaborative member of the Senior Management team. - Communicates a positive future for the Tla’amin Nation in ways that gain the support of employees, community, and external partners. - Provides updates and reports to the Executive Council as requested. - Keeps the Senior Management Team and Executive Council apprised on emergent issue
