Since 2006, the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) has protected millions of people against malaria through the distribution of long-lasting insecticide nets and indoor residual spraying, which prevent the bites of transmitting mosquitoes. In September 2017, the United States government reinforced its commitment to the fight against malaria by launching the VectorLink PMI project. **Key Roles and Responsibilities** - Provides technical supervision in malaria vector biology and coordinate all entomological monitoring activities in the field that occur in the rural area of the municipality of Guapi, in Cauca Department. - Directs and supervises the professional (1) and technical (28) personnel assigned to the mosquito collection activities in the field, coordinates the roles, planning of activities, level of effort and other aspects of the team related to technical performance. - Directs and supervises the professional (2) personnel assigned to _Anopheles _species identification, parity determination, insecticide susceptibility testing and insectary management, coordinates the planning of activities, level of effort and other aspects of the team functions related to technical performance. - Coordinates and supervises the adequate execution of Standard Operating Procedures for entomology of malaria vectors, such as collection of mosquitos using human landing catches (HLCs), Prokopack aspirators, and the standardization of efficacy tests with World Health Organization cones on insecticide-treated nets and wall surfaces sprayed with insecticide. - Ensures that all data from all mosquito collection activities are recorded correctly on data entry forms. - Prepares periodic reports on the progress of activities and supports the Entomology Technical Manager in the preparation of entomological monitoring reports required by USAID. - Represents the project before government entities and the community in the municipality of Guapi, Cauca - Provides decisive and safe tools in the face of inconveniences that may arise during project activities. - Supports the project in any administrative task that is required from the Guapi headquarters: Personnel selection, expense report preparation, requests for quotations for equipment and materials, among others. - Supports the coordination of 'œOccupational Health & Safety Management Program' - activities, including team briefings and task completion. - Provides training support and administrative updates to office staff - With the laboratory supervisor, supports the preventive maintenance of the office ( _furniture, bottles, consumables, repairs, etc. _). - Creates and maintains effective working relationships with allies, suppliers, beneficiaries, and other natural or legal personnel related to the project, including participation in meetings/events. **Preferred Qualifications** - Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Microbiology or other related field is highly desirable - Master's degree in entomology, public health, epidemiology, or tropical diseases is highly desirable - Three (3) years of relevant professional work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. **Experience working in the Colombian Pacific is highly desirable **. - Ability and interest in supervising and managing groups of people is highly desirable. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written and spoken). - Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal direction and supervision. - Ability to work independently and within a team to achieve the quality of the products generated and achieve compliance with delivery deadlines. - Organization skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment. - Ability to produce high-quality work in a timely and cost-effective manner. - Leadership skills, assertive communication and decisiveness in the planning, implementation and monitoring of interventions in health promotion and prevention programs and management of technical personnel in the field. - Computer skills (able to run programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel). - Knowledge of English is a plus. - Be able to move ASAP to the study center located in Guapi, Cuaca and remain there for the project's duration (at least one year). **Minimum Qualifications** High School Diploma + Four years of relevant experience, or Associates Degree + Two years of relevant experience
