Overview We are seeking a versatile and skilled professional for a hybrid role of Print Production Artist & Direct Mail Producer. This role will involve building out final print-ready mechanicals, managing the procurement of print materials, mailing services, and data management to ensure the successful execution of direct mail programs that meet the client's objectives. The ideal candidate will exhibit advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and other relevant design software and possess expertise in vendor negotiation, cost management, and quality control to ensure all print projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Conception and Planning: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand campaign objectives, target audience, and messaging requirements. Develop print specifications, mailing timelines, and budget estimates in alignment with client goals. Triple bid projects with client-approved vendors for printing, mailing, and data services based on project requirements and budget constraints. Vendor Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with print vendors, letter shops, and data providers. Secure materials that adhere to clients’ strict sustainability practices. Manage relationships with vendors, monitor performance, and resolve any issues that may arise during the production process through to final invoice reconciliation. Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of print materials and mailing services according to project timelines. Print Production: Collaborate with account and creative teams to maintain brand consistency across all produced materials prior to release. Prepare final artwork for print production, ensuring all files meet printer specifications and quality standards. Conduct thorough pre-press checks to ensure color accuracy, image resolution, and layout standards are maintained across all materials. Oversee the print production process, including proofing and press checks, to uphold quality standards. Stay updated on best practices in print production and continuously strive to enhance quality and efficiency. Data Management: Work closely with data providers to acquire and manage mailing lists, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data privacy regulations. Coordinate data delivery to letter shops for personalization, addressing, and mailing of direct mail pieces. Implement mail tracking systems to monitor delivery progress, response rates, and overall campaign performance. Project Management: Create and maintain print schedules, timelines, and budgets to track progress and ensure on-time delivery of direct mail campaigns. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including account management, creative, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of projects. Communicate regularly with internal team and vendors to provide updates, address concerns, and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Manage fulfillment logistics, and coordinate timely distribution. Create Purchase Orders and process all vendor invoices. Audit final campaign and postage cost for finance to bill clients. Quality Control and Compliance: Conduct quality checks on print materials to ensure they meet client specifications, branding guidelines, and industry standards. Ensure compliance with postal regulations, including addressing formats, postage rates, and delivery schedules. Monitor campaign performance metrics, analyze results, and provide recommendations for optimization and improvement. Qualifications Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in print procurement, direct mail production, or related roles. Experience with variable data printing processes. Familiarity with CRM or marketing automation platforms for direct mail. Knowledge of digital marketing integration with traditional direct mail efforts. Strong knowledge of print production processes, mailing services, data management, and postal regulations and compliance. Proficiency in project management tools, data tracking software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
