As a Regulatory & Compliance Consultant , you will play a strategic role in managing regulatory relationships, ensuring adherence to compliance obligations, and acting as a key advisor to internal and external stakeholders. Role Purpose Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements across South America, safeguarding Munich Re’s operations by proactively managing regulatory relationships, ensuring timely responses to regulatory requests, and mitigating risks while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Corporate Governance Ensure Munich Re’s reinsurance operations remain compliant across Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Maintain direct interaction with regulatory authorities , acting as the key point of contact for compliance-related inquiries and regulatory audits. Manage regulatory filings, licensing renewals, and required reports within strict deadlines. Oversee legal representatives and power of attorneys to ensure compliance with local regulatory obligations. Stay ahead of regulatory changes, assessing their impact on business operations and advising on necessary adjustments. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies , ensuring timely identification and resolution of compliance risks. Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely coordination between legal, tax, and compliance teams. Monitor audit findings, propose corrective actions, and manage deadlines to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations. Serve as the main liaison with the Regional Compliance Manager and other internal risk and governance functions. Compliance & Ethical Standards Actively manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders , including regulatory bodies, auditors, and legal advisors. Lead the implementation of corporate compliance frameworks , ensuring alignment with local and global regulations. Promote a strong corporate compliance culture by developing and leading training programs for internal teams. Ensure timely completion of compliance self-assessments, regulatory reporting, and adherence to corporate compliance plans. Monitor changes in tax regulations and provide strategic guidance to mitigate financial and reputational risks. Ensure the proper application of double taxation treaties and oversee tax recovery processes. Collaborate with the Group Tax team to align local tax compliance with global initiatives. Legal & Contractual Advisory Assess legal risks associated with contracts, partnerships, and regulatory obligations. Provide expert legal guidance on supplier agreements, NDAs, and regulatory reporting requirements. Engage with external legal advisors when necessary and ensure all contractual obligations are met in accordance with internal policies. Data Protection & Privacy Compliance Act as the key advisor on data protection and privacy compliance, ensuring adherence to local laws and corporate policies. Work closely with the Regional Data Protection Expert (DPE) to handle compliance-related incidents and regulatory reporting. Ensure proactive risk management regarding data protection issues, advising business units on compliance best practices. Required Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Experience: 5+ years of proven experience managing regulatory relationships and compliance matters. Experience working directly with regulators, government agencies, or industry associations. Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, governance policies, tax regulations, and financial compliance. Experience in the insurance, reinsurance, financial, or multinational sectors is highly preferred. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements in South American markets. Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior leadership, regulatory authorities, and external advisors. Ability to manage strict deadlines and handle unforeseen regulatory challenges. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to anticipate risks and implement mitigation strategies. Tools & Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Power BI, and Adobe Sign. Language Skills: Fluent in Spanish and English (Intermediate-Advanced level required).
