Were seeking a Staff Accountant / Controller to take ownership of core financial operations, ensuring general ledger integrity, timely monthly closes, and compliance across reporting and payroll. The ideal candidate will lead with precision, proactively refine internal processes, coordinate across teams, and support external audit readiness. Key Responsibilities:







Manage general ledger integrity and execute all aspects of the monthly close process. Prepare and review reconciliations and journal entries. Develop and manage the monthly close calendar. Interface with external accountants or auditors. Oversee payroll-related accounting, including accruals and compliance reviews. Support internal financial reporting and 13-week cash flow forecasting. Manage team workflows and coordinate with leadership at the discretion of the CFO. Qualifications:
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); Spanish is a plus. Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate independently in a lean team. Proven experience managing and optimizing month-end close cycles. Solid understanding of GL discipline: cutoffs, reconciliations, and accruals. Experience leading Controller-level conversations on cash, controls, and compliance. Familiarity with payroll accounting and statutory compliance frameworks. Exposure to 13-week cash flow modeling or forecasting. Nice-to-Haves:
CPA or strong public accounting background. Familiarity with Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting, especially in construction or related industries. Experience building or improving close calendars or checklists. Hands-on experience with cash-to-accrual accounting transitions. Prior audit preparation experience (internal or external).
