Hiring Department The University of Missouri School Of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology Job Description The department seeks to hire part-time technicians to support ophthalmologists and/or optometrists. Responsibilities include: Conduct preliminary patient interviews, record relevant data (chief complaint, health history, medications, allergies), and measure vitals if necessary. Prepare patient and exam rooms for procedures and assist physicians during procedures. Clean and restock exam rooms, including supplies, equipment, and medications, and review expiration dates for appropriate action. Perform eye examinations and tests as directed by the physician. Photograph eye conditions to document diseases, surgeries, treatments, and congenital issues. Use specialized microscopes and cameras to capture 2-3 dimensional images of eye segments. Monitor patient gaze through microscope cameras to ensure compliance with instructions. Assist physicians and perform other duties as assigned. Shift Shifts vary, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., up to 20 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent education and experience, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
