We are looking for a talented and dedicated Chief Java Full-Stack Developer to join our High Content Analysis (HCA) team to help create innovative image analysis platforms in the life sciences field. In this position, you will lead the update of our current user interface while ensuring smooth integration of workflows within the HCS Suite. You will work with advanced AWS cloud technologies and play a key role in defining the direction of our software solutions. Responsibilities Take full responsibility for delivering project outcomes and development milestones within the HCA team Develop frontend (80%) and backend (20%) features using TypeScript, React, Redux, and Java Overhaul the existing user interface by replacing Java Servlets with modern frameworks Collaborate with Product Management, DevOps, and other engineering teams to create scalable solutions Connect the frontend interface with backend services, ensuring seamless functionality within the HCS Suite Convert user needs into functional and technical design specifications Implement AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Step Functions, into the architecture Apply methodologies like clean coding, event-driven architecture, and microservices for scalability and maintainability Ensure robust code quality and automated testing with tools such as Jest and React Testing Library Advance DevOps practices, including containerization and CI/CD deployment pipelines Leverage tools like Git, JIRA, and Confluence to optimize development processes Adapt the application to support extensive image analysis and scientific data workflows Requirements 7+ years of professional expertise in Java development, with recent experience in frontend technologies Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Redux, alongside experience with Material-UI Background in backend development with Java, with an emphasis on Java Servlets Knowledge of AWS services such as ECS, S3, Lambda, and API Gateway Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, OAuth2, and event-driven workflows Familiarity with microservices architecture and modular system design Skills in testing frameworks like Jest or similar tools Competency in DevOps tooling, including Git, Jenkins, Docker, and containerized deployments Experience with Python and SQL for backend development or data handling Effective communication skills in cross-functional team environments Background in life sciences or projects related to biotech/pharma is highly desirable Nice to have Familiarity with transforming old systems using Java Servlets into modern frameworks Understanding of workflows for analyzing large-scale scientific images Background in leveraging cloud-based tools for data management Knowledge of clean architecture principles and scalable design strategies Proficiency with authentication protocols such as SAML and JWT We offer/Benefits - International projects with top brands - Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers - Healthcare benefits - Employee financial programs - Paid time off and sick leave - Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses - Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses - Global career opportunities - Volunteer and community involvement opportunities - EPAM Employee Groups - Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
