Position Summary The Dispatcher coordinates and monitors the movement of freight from pickup to delivery, ensuring on-time performance, efficient routing, and proactive communication with carriers, drivers, and customers. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment. Key Responsibilities Daily Operations - Assign and schedule inland freight shipments with contracted carriers and owner-operators. - Maintain constant communication with drivers to ensure compliance with schedules and customer requirements. - Respond promptly to service delays, incidents, or emergencies by taking corrective actions. Customer & Carrier Communication - Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers during active loads. - Provide shipment updates to customers and internal teams. - Communicate route instructions, special handling requirements, and delivery details. Documentation & Compliance - Ensure all load details are accurately entered into the Transportation Management System (TMS). - Verify that all carriers meet Journey Freight International’s compliance standards, including insurance, safety ratings, and documentation. - Maintain detailed records of shipments, communications, and incident reports. Problem Resolution - Troubleshoot delivery issues, including delays, equipment breakdowns, and route changes. - Escalate major service failures to the Operations Leader. - Collaborate with team members to find solutions that protect service commitments and customer satisfaction.
