We are seeking a skilled and passionate Lead Java Full-Stack Developer to join our High Content Analysis (HCA) team and drive the development of advanced image analysis platforms in the life sciences domain. In this role, you will champion the modernization of our existing user interface and contribute to the seamless integration of workflows within the HCS Suite. You will work with cutting-edge AWS cloud infrastructure and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our software offerings. Responsibilities Take full ownership of project execution and development deliverables within the HCA team Develop and maintain 80% frontend and 20% backend features using TypeScript, React, Redux, and Java Modernize the existing UI, transitioning from Java Servlets to modern frameworks Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, DevOps, and other engineering teams to define and deliver scalable solutions Integrate the frontend interface with backend services, ensuring compatibility within the HCS Suite Translate user requirements into functional and technical designs Utilize AWS services, such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and Step Functions, for cloud-based architecture Apply principles of clean code, event-driven architecture, and microservices to ensure scalability and maintainability Maintain high standards of code quality and automated testing using tools like Jest and React Testing Library Contribute to DevOps practices including containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment pipelines Utilize tools like Git, JIRA, and Confluence to streamline development workflows Ensure the application supports large-scale image analysis and scientific data management workflows Requirements 5+ years of professional experience in Java development with recent exposure to frontend technologies Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Redux with experience in Material-UI Strong backend development skills using Java with a preference for Java Servlets Proven knowledge of AWS services including ECS, S3, Lambda, and API Gateway Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, OAuth2, and event-driven architecture Familiarity with microservices and modular system design concepts Proficiency in testing frameworks like Jest or similar tools Strong competency in DevOps tooling such as Git, Jenkins, Docker, and containerized deployments Experience with Python and SQL in backend operations or data handling contexts Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate technical ideas effectively Background in life sciences or biotech/pharma projects is highly desirable Nice to have Familiarity with Java Servlets and transitioning legacy systems to modern technologies Understanding of large-scale image analysis workflows Experience with data management tools in cloud-based environments Background in clean architecture principles and scalable design patterns Proficiency with authentication protocols such as SAML and JWT We offer/Benefits - International projects with top brands - Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers - Healthcare benefits - Employee financial programs - Paid time off and sick leave - Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses - Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses - Global career opportunities - Volunteer and community involvement opportunities - EPAM Employee Groups - Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
