**Genetics & Ingredient Research Manager (GIRM)** **Your role**: As the Genetics & Ingredient Research Manager, you will be responsible for building thought leadership in plant ingredient space through genetics and food chemistry related disciplines. You will help guide overall breeding strategy from early trait evaluation to plot trial, market, and ingredient/process knowledge solutions to drive innovation across Ardent Mills portfolios. To succeed, you must be able to: - Deliver results in first-time situations by inspiring others and working to earn trust every day - Serve others with understanding, respect, and care - Operate with simplicity, clarity, and transparency - Drive change - Organize, prioritize, and own multiple tasks while meeting deadlines Above all you will be expected to carry out all your activities with reliability, integrity, compliance and in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner. **Core Responsibilities**: - Provide day-to-day leadership in planning, and implementation of Ardent Mills Genetics Programs both wheat & specialty to deliver new ingredients solutions, or new value of existing ingredients. - Organize and execute breeding operations with internal and external partners including planning field trials, analyzing data, reporting, and building internal database. - Provide ongoing technical expertise and thought leadership, collaborate with external breeding partners and internal partners to develop, and ensure on-scope, on-time and on-quality launch and execution of projects - Ensure smooth and successful project hand-off in the pre-commercial phase to Commercial Lead. - Prepare a detailed project plan to schedule key project milestones, workstreams & activities. - Identify and mitigate potential risks. - Manage the relationship and communication with all stakeholders, ensuring the project is delivered satisfactorily. - Responsible for overseeing and maintaining knowledge management system for given projects. - Develop industry relationships and networks with professional organizations and experts in specific science & technology areas of interest. - Represent Ardent Mills in relevant technical industry working groups and association. - Develop unique, proprietary intellectual property that yields a competitive advantage. - Partner with breeders / farmers / growers to ensure Ardent Mills is providing sufficient resources to support genetics initiatives - Explore, evaluate and negotiate commercial partnerships to bring new products to market - Track status against the project budget and timing; report on status and the business case realization to Sr. Director R&D; **Essential Skills and Experience**: - Graduated degree in Plant Science (genetics, agronomy, etc.) or other relevant field with at least 8 years of relevant work experience - Demonstrated experience with designing experiments and proven ability to interpret scientific data, including sensory and analytical, and provide guidance on significance as it relates to how it measures competitively in the industry - Understanding of grain industry - Experienced in handling confidential and proprietary information. - Ability to manage time effectively, carry out multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a very dynamic work environment with changing priorities - Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting and manage complex multi-stakeholder situations - High Integrity, positive attitude, and flexible working style, able to develop positive working relationships with others - Demonstrated ability to develop talent within team.
