We are expanding our in-houselegal team, creating an opportunity for an exceptional recentgraduate as junior Legal Advisor or junior Legal Counsel. Thesuccessful candidate will be a rigorous and effective practitionerwith a track record of academic achievement and social engagement.At Canonical they will have the opportunity to work on a variety oftransactional matters in the technology and enterprise softwarerealm, as well as the contracts that underpin global employment,contracting and partnerships. In this appointment we are morefocused on ability than experience; the position is open toapplicants with a relevant degree, but does not have a requirementfor extensive work experience. The successful candidate will workclosely with our in-house legal team and colleagues worldwide.Candidates must be able to demonstrate good commercial judgment aswell as being organized, efficient, and capable to provide highquality legal and commercial advice. We are looking for a rigorouswork ethic, detailed analysis, conscientiousness, and the ambitionto identify opportunities for improvement. Location: This role ishome based in Europe, the Middle East, Africa or the Americas, withthe option of our London office. The role entails - Report to ourglobal general counsel - Draft, review, and negotiate commercialcontracts with customers and vendors in many countries across theglobe - Provide legal support to various internal clients acrossthe company, including Canonical's sales organization - Interfacewith cross-functional teams to support company initiatives -Utilize Canonical's contract management system to ensure accuratedata is maintained for signed contracts - Work with local counselin many countries to seek and implement advice What we are lookingfor in you - An exceptional academic track record from both highschool and university - A degree in law, JD or equivalent, andactive license to practice law or current progress towards that -Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations -Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability towork in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment - Effective bothindependently and as part of a team - A passion for technologyevidenced by personal initiatives and projects - Professionalwritten and spoken English with excellent drafting and presentationskills - Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback,and share ideas without hesitation - Appreciative of diversity;polite and effective in a multicultural multinational organization- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, andaccountability - Thoughtfulness and self-motivation -Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments -Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weekslong Nice-to-have skills - Experience in commercial transactions,intellectual property, or corporate law - Leadership and theability to influence others to embrace new ideas or practices -Understanding of the open source software community and values -Understanding of the technology industry - silicon, data centers,PCs, connected devices, and software - Experience working onin-house legal team and/or law firm What we offer colleagues Weconsider geographical location, experience, and performance inshaping compensation worldwide.
