Job Description About the position The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) is seeking a Project Manager with a gender and rural development background to coordinate the implementation of a component of the project INNOVACIÓN RURAL Y SOSTENIBLE PARA EL DESARROLLO REGIONAL BAJO LA VARIABILIDAD CLIMÁTICA EN LA REGIÓN CENTRAL RAP-E - AID 12900. The project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and led by the Italo-Latin American International Organization (IILA). The Initiative, which has a duration of 3 years, aims to strengthen biodiversity conservation processes and ecosystem services in the Central Region of Colombia, through the application of the integrated management approach of Productive Landscapes, taking into consideration its social, economic, and environmental sustainability. This, in addition, includes the launching of local, national, and global initiatives for the generation of Guidelines for inter- departmental policies that promote the appropriation of sustainable rural development models and the leadership of women and youth. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of the PI and lead a team of technical experts from The Alliance. He/She will work in close coordination with the IILA Project Manager and teams of experts and with the Colombian partner, REGIÓN CENTRAL RAP-E. He/She will contribute to mainstreaming gender in all the activities of the project as well as to supervise specific gender related studies and activities. The position is critical to supporting the project’s strategic objectives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This position is based in Bogotá, Colombia. Key Responsibilities Project Management • Plan, in coordination with IILA and RAP-E, the implementation of the activities entrusted to The Alliance. • Coordinate and supervise the team of experts that will implement the activities entrusted to The Alliance. • Authorize and monitor expenditures related to the activities entrusted to The Alliance. In this endeavor, the Project Coordinator will be supported by the PI and The Alliance administrative and financial departments. • Propose, in coordination with the PI, effective solutions to technical, logistical, social and financial problems encountered during the implementation of the activities entrusted to The Alliance. Technical and Methodological Management • Lead the design and implementation of the activities entrusted by IILA to The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. • Supervise and coordinate data collection for the baseline of the project. • Develop innovative tools and methodologies to mainstream gender in all project activities and lead the design of gender related studies. Strategic Collaboration and Reporting • Actively participate in meetings with strategic partners to ensure technical activities align with project objectives. • Prepare technical reports in Spanish, including recommendations based on advanced analyses and field findings. • Ensure that results and technical recommendations are clearly and effectively communicated to internal and external stakeholders. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science or related fields. • Master’s degree in Development Studies or related fields. • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of sustainable rural development in Colombia, including planning, team coordination, monitoring of activities, management of relations with local authorities and partners. • Significant experience in design and implementation of strategies for social and gender inclusion in sustainable rural development projects. • Significant experience in design and utilization of gender specific indicators for M&E. • Significant experience in fostering community dialogue, including in indigenous communities. • Advanced Spanish and English proficiency (oral and written). Knowledge of Italian is a plus. • Valid driver’s license. This is a national position and will be managed through a fixed-term contract with a duration of one (1) year, subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
