In this career-defining role, you will shape strategy, execution, and delivery across AI, BI, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams - ensuring scalable intelligence solutions, impactful data insights, and a strong alignment between technology and business goals. As the Head of the Technical Department, you will oversee people leadership, delivery outcomes, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and business teams. You will thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where agility, innovation, and cross-team coordination are essential. What you'll be getting up to: - Working across a number of business areas providing development, maintenance and support. - Working as part of a team and occasionally working solo on development pieces of work as the business needs arise. - Take ownership for the overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects. - Define and execute the BI roadmap, including data warehousing, reporting, and analytics frameworks to democratise data access. - Establish data governance policies (quality, security, compliance) and oversee BI tooling (Looker, Preset). - Drive adoption of self-service BI and collaborate with stakeholders to identify KPIs/metrics that align with business goals. - Design and implement tools that help engineering teams focus on shipping features, while making sure we're building infrastructure that is cost efficient, secure and reliable. - Partner with external providers like GCP and others to ensure collaboration and allow us to build relationships make the best use of their platforms. - Partner with product teams to integrate AI/ML insights into business processes and customer-facing features. - Architect scalable BI systems (ETL pipelines, data lakes, real-time dashboards) and optimise AI/ML workflows. - Partner with executives to translate business needs into BI-driven insights and AI use cases. - Mentor BI & AI Engineers, Data Analysts, and SREs fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. - Collaborate with other engineers and leaders across the company and ensure all our tools have the expected impact. - Lead Agile delivery of projects, balancing short-term wins with long-term strategic investments. - Help identify probable causes and provide immediate solution during an incident. - Contribute significant ideas for making the applications user friendly. - Participate in cutting edge research in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications. You'll have: - Proven demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation. - Technical experience in distributed systems, including: Databases, Caching, Inter-Service Communication, Networking, Microservices and Cloud Services. - Excellent communication, people, project, and stakeholder management skills. - Experience with Cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform. - Excellent knowledge of API development, Microservices, Web Sockets. - Proving track record in designing or managing high performance, highly available and scalable systems. - Research or Industry experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning (ML) models, ML infrastructure, OCR, Chatbots and Voice bots, Natural Language Processing or Deep Learning. - Ability to organise and manage multiple priorities. - Ability to deliver short term results while investing in long term strategic solutions. - Self-starter, and Self-motivated and able to learn independently. - Team player who is eager to help others to succeed. - Hands-on experience in data warehousing (Snowflake, Big Query), ETL tools (Nifi, Informatica, Talend), and visualisation platforms (Looker, Preset). - Proven track record in deploying ML models (NLP, OCR, recommendation systems) at scale. - Experience with AIOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow) and cloud AI services (GCP AI Platform, Vertex AI). - Experience with BI tools (e.g., SQL, Big query), data visualization, and AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, ScikitLearn, Large language models, Large multimedia models, Embeddings models, RAG based application, Light GBM, Agentic AI application/automation). - Intermediate knowledge of Big Data tools (Spark, Hadoop) and real-time analytics (Kafka, Flink, Pub/Sub). - Proficiency in SQL, Python, and advanced analytics (e.g., segmentation, forecasting). - Knowledge of data governance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and metadata management. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience. - 10 years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience. - 5 years hands-on strong programming experience in one of the following: Python, Rust, golang, Python, Java or C++, Kotlin. - Successfully managed teams of 15+ engineers, BI analysts, and data scientists. - Excellent command of the English language - written & spoken. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related degree. - 10 years of relevant industry experience, with 5 years of technical leadership and people management experience (managing teams of 21 or more developers). - Experience designing large-scale AI/BI platforms from the ground up. - Prior experience integrating AI into customer-facing applications. - Familiarity with AIOps, real-time analytics, and observability tools. - We warmly invite applications in English.
