About the Role U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our elite team of law enforcement professionals. As a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO), you will play a critical role in safeguarding our nation's borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing economic prosperity. Key Responsibilities - Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations - Facilitating legitimate trade and travel while preventing illegal entry and smuggling - Determining individual admissibility for entry into the United States - Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances Locations We have multiple duty locations throughout the United States, including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Texas, Vermont, Virginia Islands, and Washington. Please note that duty locations may be subject to change based on operational and mission requirements. Salary and Benefits The annual base salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies depending on grade level: - GL-5: $49,739–$61,833 - GL-7: $56,623-$71,615 - GL-9: $63,148-$81,480 Locality pay varies by duty location. Fully trained officers are eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following: - Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in general work or inspections work - Have at least 3 years of full-time general work experience or 1 year of specialized work experience in inspections - Have a combination of education and experience Additional Requirements You must be a U.S. citizen, have had primary U.S. residency for at least 3 of the last 5 years, and not exceed your 40th birthday.
