This role is essential to maintaining quality and safety on-site, ensuring that every aspect of the project meets industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Conduct daily inspections of roadway construction projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards. Oversee work activities including traffic control, earthwork, erosion control, asphalt paving, concrete paving, drainage structures, and equipment installation. Prepare and maintain detailed daily inspection reports and constructability reviews. Verify that materials and methods align with project plans and specifications. Analyze and review shop drawings, addressing potential issues before they impact project progress. Accurately calculate quantities for materials like concrete, asphalt, steel, and earthwork. Maintain communication with project stakeholders, reporting any deviations from plans and suggesting corrective actions. Operate testing equipment and ensure accurate measurement and quality control. Collaborate with contractors to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Qualifications: High school diploma (GED) required; an engineering background is a plus. 3+ years of construction/inspection experience on roadway projects. Experience with DOT or municipal roadway projects, including asphalt paving, concrete work, grading, and erosion control. Proficiency with industry-standard inspection tools (e.g., air meter, slump cone, transit, level). Relevant certifications (preferred but not required): -SCDOT Earthwork/Base/Drainage, Asphalt Roadway Technician, PCC Levels 1 and 2. -CTQP (Construction Training Qualification Program) certifications. -OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Program. Ability to work independently and maintain detailed records.
