If you are a smart, ambitious and dynamic professional with a strong passion to make a real difference in the fight against climate change, the below position may be right for you! **Job summary**: Reporting to the Director of Global Communications, the Senior Strategic Communications Manager for LAC is responsible for developing a communications strategy to reach key stakeholders in the Latin American region and Caribbean, including the development of clear and concise local narratives (in line with global key messaging and brand positioning),promoting and supporting the communications around our projects, identifying regional communications and PR targets, and delivering communications assets according to the highest standards of quality. You will play an active role in drafting and/or reviewing written communications for the South Pole Management, Communications team, and other staff, supporting the Corporate Communications Strategy, providing communication suggestions to reach desired targets, as well as drafting content for websites, social media, pitches and PowerPoint presentations by management. **Main tasks & responsibilities**: - Develop a communications & media strategy and implementation plan for the LAC region to reinforce South Pole’s strategic position through tailored key messages to external stakeholders with a clear call to action. Media and civil society are key stakeholders. The implementation plan should ensure that strategic content and key messages reach the intended audiences(s), taking into consideration key events/milestones during the year, news cycles, and headlines - Plan ahead as well as identify sudden opportunities to promote South Pole, key topics, and the expertise of local staff. Work on this plan in consultation with Regional Marketing Managers - Define priority areas where South Pole should be better known in local markets/in the region and based on South Pole’s priority initiatives/projects and aspired brand position. This should take advantage of topics being discussed in the media and suggest ways to act/respond appropriately to create maximum positive and high-value exposure for South Pole - Keep abreast of topics discussed in public discourse (by key stakeholders, including media, politicians, NGOs etc) to determine where it makes sense to join the discourse - Provide regular updates to the global Communications team on media trends and the evolving public sentiment around key climate issues in your region - Work with colleagues to take South Pole material/content and convert it into local strategic communications assets - This could include taking issue briefs or reports and translating this into clear internal guidance for local staff - especially regional Marketing teams - as well as external communications assets (including op eds, blogs, or other impactful formats) for external stakeholders - An example is our policy on Net Zero, which we reinforce in the way we position it to local media, clients, and our staff - Work collaboratively with the extended Communications and Marketing teams, and support the Director of Global Communications, as needed. **Requirements**: Essential - Education in communications, journalism, climate change or other relevant field - Several years of relevant work experience in fields related to internal/external communications, journalism, editing, climate finance, or similar - Good understanding of climate/carbon finance - Excellent writing and presentation skills, a good storyteller - Wide media network in the LAC region - Experience with social media and web content - Excellent PowerPoint skills, ability to create engaging presentations - Ability to work collaboratively in teams and translate key messages into inspiring and engaging content - Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced global organisation - Innovative and resourceful mindset, who is able to challenge the status quo, bring new ideas and make creative suggestions to increase the impact of communications - Strong attention to detail - Fluency in Spanish and English is a must, any other additional language Desi
