Job Duties and Qualifications Under strict supervision, assists during rigging-up and rigging-down of surface and down-hole well logging equipment at work locations to record information about sub-surface geologic formations. Learns basic oil well operations, including identifying different rig types, drill string components, Blow Out Prevention (BOP) procedures and equipment, and following Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and guidelines. Assists during the operation of well logging equipment at the job site. Learns to assemble down-hole well logging tools (electric, nuclear, sonic, and other types). Maintains, cleans, and performs preventative maintenance on down-hole and surface well logging equipment. Assists in performing pre- and post-job vehicle and equipment inspections, including paperwork and reports. Properly performed tasks have minimal impact on organizational operations; errors are easily identified and corrected by supervisors. Skills are typically acquired through successful completion of high school or equivalent education. A license to operate commercial equipment may be required in some locations. Successful completion of Well Control Accreditation and water survival training may be required. Effective communication skills are necessary due to the nature of oil field work. Basic math, reading comprehension, and writing skills are required; basic computer skills are preferred. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, complying with all safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures adherence to HSE regulations and guidelines.
