Purpose To derive meaningful insights from collections analytics and portfolio reports and datasets, while proposing alternative courses of action to improve operational metrics and deliver collections plan (e.g., PCL, W / O, OpEx). Leads the Insights team with particular focus on IB Collections, responsible for : - Driving improvements to customer strategies in order to achieve plans - Deliver meaningful and timely insights to enable teams to make effective decisions - Having a continuous improvement mindset Accountabilities - Utilizes available diagnostic tools to identify system, strategy and operations issues - Uses information to formulate action plans to optimize contact strategies leveraging available channels to improve collections effectiveness & minimize losses - Monitors performance for IB Collections, identifying actionable opportunities to address market & portfolio headwinds - Supports stakeholders within IB Collections by ensuring accurate, consistent, & timely production of meaningful information packages & reports - Delivers analyses into collections performance, converting analytic data to insights and actionable recommendations to drive initiatives and ensure targets are attained - Creates a collaborative performance driven culture. Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; Communicates vision / values / business strategy and manages succession and development planning for the team - Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. - Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk. Reporting Relationship Primary Manager : - VP, Collections Analytics, Insights & Strategy Direct Reports : - Sr Manager, Reporting & Insights - Sr Manager, Reporting & insights Shared Reports : - No Shared Reports Dimensions - Manage stakeholder relationships from business, risk and collections operations from all geographies - Collections workload : > 300K accts / > 6.5Bn - Daily capacity : > 1,200 collections advisors - Cash collected / recovered : > - Annual NWO : > 1,3Bn Education / Experience / Other Information - Degree in engineering, economics or business - Fluency in English and Spanish is desirable - A minimum of five to seven years with an organization in the collections / risk / portfolio management field, with a proven track record of success in leading and implementing change in the financial services sector - Strong project management and leadership skills to prioritize manage and implement a variety of competing initiatives, on a concurrent or staggered basis - Excellent communication and written skills complemented with solid deductive reasoning, sound judgement and creativity - Knowledge of the Bank’s customer / business objectives, issues and challenges as well and the current trends and implications of the International markets - Prior experience in a retail lending environment - Must be self-motivated, energetic and results-oriented and be committed to adding value to the organization - In addition, the idea candidate would possess : Creative, out-of-the-box thinker, strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills - Excellent organizational and leadership skills - Highly flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities Working Conditions - Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence with limited travel globally as required.
