Job Summary The Sr. Accountant is a senior-level position reporting directly to the Accounting Supervisor. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing guidance to other members of the accounting team. The Senior Accountant also assists in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the organization's financial operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS-GAAP). The Sr. Accountant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands, seeking supervisory assistance as appropriate. Responsibilities 1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Client’s accounting department, including managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions. 2. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting by preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. 3. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and standards, ensuring compliance with IFRS-GAAP and other regulatory requirements, and stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry trends. 4. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data, including reviewing and updating accounting manuals and processes as needed. 5. Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, tax, and audit, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information and support the organization’s overall financial goals. 6. Provide guidance and support to other members of the accounting team, including training and mentoring junior staff, and delegating tasks as needed. 7. Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning. 8. Participate in special projects and other initiatives as assigned by management. 9. Review accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations, and direct or make correcting entries as necessary. 10. Manage subsidiary accounting records involving various transactions and accounts, maintaining control over these records. 11. Plan, organize, and control accounting process flows, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. 12. Gather and report on departmental processing metrics, including relevant statistical data to measure performance. Skills and Experience General Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance. - CPA certification is preferred. - Strong knowledge of IFRS-GAAP and other accounting principles and standards. - Experience in managing accounting operations. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. - Experience with accounting software such as Oracle, Netsuite, or SAP is preferred. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
