Job Summary As a Senior Payroll Tax Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes, compliance with tax regulations, and managing payroll tax-related inquiries or issues. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining our organization's reputation for excellence in finance and accounting. Key Responsibilities: - Payroll Tax Compliance: Accurately calculate, withhold, report, and remit payroll taxes to federal, state, and local authorities. - Tax Filings: Prepare and file federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, including 941s, state unemployment reports, and W-2s. - Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and resolving discrepancies related to payroll taxes. - Tax Research & Updates: Stay up-to-date with changing payroll tax regulations and advise the team on their impact. - System Maintenance & Optimization: Collaborate with HRIS and payroll teams to ensure payroll systems are set up correctly and optimized to handle complex tax requirements. - Discrepancy Resolution: Address and resolve payroll tax discrepancies in a timely manner. - Tax Deposits & Payments: Oversee the timely and accurate deposit of federal, state, and local taxes. - Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, and other teams to ensure accurate data for payroll tax purposes. Requirements and Qualifications - Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Experience: 5+ years of payroll tax experience, including experience in payroll tax compliance, reporting, and tax filings. - Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax software, and MS Excel. - Knowledge of Payroll Regulations: In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and compliance requirements. - Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in managing complex payroll data and tax filings. - Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve payroll tax issues effectively. - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
