Job Description As a Specialist for Data Engineering at Scotiabank, you will play a crucial role in the development of data assets and data models serving International Banking Analytics. Your primary objective will be to leverage established templates to collect, manage, and convert raw data into information via data pipelines and databases. This information will then be consumed by business intelligence and advanced analytics applications. You will ensure that all activities conducted are in adherence with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Key Accountabilities - Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. - Participate in data engineering and transformation design to ensure highly scalable, extensible, and performant solutions. - Collaborate with the International Banking data engineering community to support training and onboarding of new users and implement data assets across international teams. - Develop scalable data assets across Scotiabank international markets, supporting Data integration, Analytics, and On-prem and later Cloud environments. - Function as a member of an agile team, driving consistent development practices, tools usage, common components, and patterns. - Collaborate and support analytic teams to proactively build and improve existing operating models, increasing reliability and stability of data platforms for end users in accordance with established engineering practices and automation. - Contribute to data delivery for high-visibility and critical projects across the bank. Requirements - Experience working as a junior Data Engineer or Technical Business Analyst. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or relevant experience. - Cloud computing knowledge, Data Quality and Governance is a plus. - Knowledge with SQL, git, docker, airflow, infrastructure-as-code, spark (nice to have). Preferred Assets - Experience with Big Data and Cloud Technologies. - Experience with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence. - Experience working in Retail/Risk Banking Domain is an asset. - Experience working in an Agile team environment. - Knowledge of MS Power BI (Data consumption).
