Job Description As the Data Center Engineer at EdgeUno, you will play a pivotal role in managing the colocation facilities primarily located in the Points of Presence (POPs) in Bogotá, Argentina. We are seeking a qualified professional to oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT equipment, ensuring continuous improvement in capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with hands-on experience in data center operations, availability for on-call shifts (24/7), and a willingness to travel when necessary. Core Responsibilities 1. Equipment Installation & Maintenance: - Rack, stack, and cable IT equipment, including servers, network devices, and rack PDUs. - Implement and maintain structured cable management best practices. - Assist with the deployment of Rack/MOR cabling, ensuring high-quality standards. - Layer 1 and 2 troubleshooting for network devices and servers. 2. Infrastructure & Facility Management: - Maintain and update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). - Support Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) activities. - Ensure cleanliness and proper organization of the data center environment. - Conduct physical audits of data center assets. 3. IT Equipment Handling & Security: - Decommission IT equipment securely, including DBD removal and hard drive shredding. - Move locked DBD bins to designated shared areas. - Support audit and inventory management processes. - Physically assist in moving and racking equipment as needed. 4. Operational Support: - Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on servers and IT equipment following documented procedures. - Perform Tier 1 and 2 fiber analysis, OTDR traces analysis, and dark fiber troubleshooting. - Execute rack movements across various company locations when required. - Provide support for emergency incidents and problem resolution. Requirements: - Proven hands-on experience in data center operations. - Problem-solving and incident management experience. - Knowledge of security and data protection best practices. - Understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and facility management, to ensure operational efficiency and reliability. - Availability for on-call shifts (24/7) and travel when necessary. - English proficiency (written and verbal) Nice to Have: - Basic Linux server administration. - Scripting and task automation knowledge. - Experience with network monitoring tools. - Basic networking skills and troubleshooting. - Experience with cloud installations. - Project management experience, including the ability to plan, execute, and oversee data center projects efficiently. - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, AWS, Google Cloud, or similar).
