The Director of Collections is responsible for overseeing the entire collections department, setting strategy, optimizing recovery processes, managing escalations, coaching team leads, and ensuring consistent performance against KPIs. This role will drive operational excellence and improve the overall cash flow by reducing outstanding balances and optimizing collection cycles. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage the collections team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and development. - Design and implement collection strategies to maximize recovery while maintaining positive client relationships. - Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess department effectiveness. - Oversee the collections of all accounts receivable, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding debts. - Analyze delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate actions including payment plans, write-offs, or legal action. - Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and Legal departments to streamline processes and resolve escalated issues. - Prepare and present reports to executive leadership on collections performance, trends, and areas for improvement. - Recommend and implement technology solutions to enhance collections efficiency and tracking. - Manage relationships with external collection agencies and legal partners as needed. Qualifications: Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Experience: - Minimum 3–5 years of experience in collections, credit, or revenue cycle, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. - Experience managing collections in a B2B and/or B2C environment. Skills & Competencies: - Deep knowledge of collections laws and best practices. - Strong leadership and team-building skills. - Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution abilities. - Analytical and strategic thinker with a data-driven mindset. - Proficiency in collections software and financial systems (e.g., ERP platforms, CRMs). - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
