**Job Category**:Products and Technology **Job Details**:**About the team** The Incident Management team manages the core areas around the Incident lifecycle at Slack. We continuously seek to improve how we prepare for, respond to, and learn from incidents. Our team supports and defines the incident management processes that enable Slack to serve our customers reliably. Our team is responsible for the day to day administration of active major incidents at Slack, ensuring we are responding the best we can to support our customers. We are a new team in the Reliability org at Slack, welcoming diverse perspectives and strategies with a focus on how we learn from incidents. We collaborate with many product and infrastructure engineering teams to continuously improve shared technology and processes, and nurturing incident management as a foundational skill set of all engineering teams at Slack. We will have a focus on maturing our space beyond a very robust incident response capability. **What you will be doing**: - Lead engineering development on incident tooling with a strong eye towards prototyping and iteration for high velocity. Engage with teams and users to build features that have a delightful user experience and make their lives better. - Identify areas of opportunity and invest in them to make our incident process world-class by building automation that many people at Slack use every day. - Work with leading edge Platform development at Slack building a best of breed Slackbot and services. - Participate in the major Incident Commander rotation at Slack. - Review code and get your code reviewed; mentor and be mentored by other engineers. Teamwork is what makes the dream work. - Facilitate and participate in incident investigations and reviews (aka postmortems) for major incidents at Slack. **What you should have**: - You have experience in responding to and coordinating incidents in previous roles. - Experience with large scale distributed systems and cloud-based environments - You enjoy helping onboard new team members, mentoring, and teaching others. - Some exposure to Python and Tooling. **Qualifications**: - You have experience with functional or imperative programming languages - e.g., PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C, or Java. (Preferably Python) - You write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability. - You are a strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you. - You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval. - You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience. **Bonus points**: - You are passionate about Resilience Engineering and Learning from Incidents. - Curiosity for gaining valuable insights via analytics and metrics. **Accommodations **Posting Statement**:At Salesforce we believe that the business of business is to improve the state of our world.
